We believe that every student who desires a Catholic high school education should receive it at FMCHS, regardless of their economic situation. Through scholarships and need-based financial aid, we strive to meet families where they are and help them attain a Catholic education at FMCHS. Your unrestricted gifts to FMCHS help close the tuition gap to guarantee current and future students have access to a quality faith-filled college-preparatory education, and you will know that you are helping build the future of our Catholic Church in our community.

Give through a Donor Advised Fund

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a type of giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support Father McGivney Catholic High School. DAFs are an excellent way to simplify your giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals that allow charitably inclined individuals, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable contributions.

Make a Qualified Charitable Contribution from My IRA

Federal law allows individuals age 70½ or older to make direct transfers (up to $105,000 per year) per person to charitable organizations, such as Father McGivney Catholic High School, from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without the withdrawal being treated as taxable income. Individuals 73 and older must take a Required Minimum Distribution from their traditional IRA each year. This RMD can be directed as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to Father McGivney Catholic High School or another charity to reduce your taxable income.

To make a gift from your IRA to FMCHS, contact your IRA custodian and request that a Qualified Charitable Distribution be made to FMCHS.

Giving the Gift of Stock as a Donation:

Gift of appreciated stock is a wonderful way to help FMCHS continue its mission and for the donor to receive tax benefits on such gifts. If you itemize your deductions, you can claim a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the donated securities and avoid capital gains tax. If you no longer itemize, donating appreciated stock still provides the benefit of not having to pay tax on the appreciation. This allows McGivney to receive a larger gift than if it was sold by the owner and the owner receives a greater tax deduction by giving the stock directly to the school.

Gift of Life Insurance

Making a gift through your life insurance is a wonderful way to make a lasting impact. There are several options. You may make FMCHS a beneficiary of your whole life insurance policy. Second, if you choose to receive any annual dividends your whole life policy earns in cash, you may donate those to the school each year. Or, you can make an immediate, one-time gift of a whole life policy that is paid-up (where all premium payments are complete. This may be a policy that you own but no longer need. You can change ownership and make an outright gift, which will also make you eligible for a tax deduction.
