Faith Life
At Father McGivney Catholic High School, we are dedicated to the spiritual and moral formation of our students, guiding them to build a deeper personal relationship with God. Our ultimate goal is to help each student know, love, and serve God, ensuring that they live with joy and purpose in this life and attain eternal happiness with Him in the next. By integrating faith into every aspect of education - classes, sports, and clubs, Father McGivney Catholic High School ensures that our students are not only academically prepared but also spiritually enriched, ready to live out the Gospel values in their daily lives.
Our Spiritual Life Program Includes:
- Liturgies: Every week, the entire school community celebrates the Holy Eucharist. This central act of worship strengthens our faith community, reinforces our Catholic identity, and reminds us of Christ's sacrificial love.
- Chapel Visits: All theology classes visit the Chapel weekly for dedicated time in prayer and reflection. Students are encouraged to encounter Christ in various forms of prayer, from quiet meditation to group prayers, deepening their spiritual lives.
- Adoration: Once a month, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in our Chapel for a full day of Adoration. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to spend time with Jesus in silence, prayer, and worship, fostering a profound sense of reverence and devotion.
- Sacrament of Confession: Recognizing the importance of reconciliation in our faith, Confession is made available several times each semester. This sacrament offers students the opportunity to experience God’s mercy and grow in holiness.
- Class Retreats: Each year, every class participates in a retreat designed to encourage spiritual growth, community bonding, and reflection on their faith journey. These retreats are pivotal moments for students to step away from their daily routines and focus on their relationship with God.
- Service Days: Our students and faculty work three times a year in the community, churches, and schools. From planting trees and cleaning trails to reading with school children and visiting nursing homes, our students use these days to put faith in action and be the hands and feet of Christ on earth.
- National Conferences: National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC), SEEK Conference, and Steubenville Youth Conference are some of the events that our students are encouraged to participate in during the year.
- Summer Mission Trips: Our students have the opportunity for their faith to come alive through service during summer missions trips.
