Student Life
Nothing matters more to the success of Father McGivney Catholic High School than the students. We believe in developing our students in mind, body and spirit. We see each student as an individual, and we try to provide them with plenty of opportunities to find their niche and truly soar!
Exceptional academics are a priority at Father McGivney Catholic High School. McGivney offers Honors and College Preparatory classes in all disciplines. Our students are able to earn college credit as they move into their junior and senior year through Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the 1818 dual credit program through St. Louis University.
With 14 IHSA sports and more than 25 different clubs, students are able to find their niche at FMCHS to flourish and grow. From the performing arts and science club to joining a sport, students are invited to engage fully and find activities that both round out their high school experience and make them feel complete. In addition to clubs and extracurriculars, our sports teams are being recognized throughout the State as they continue to win conference, regional, sectionals championships, as well as State Championships. Our coaches are a huge part of preparing our student athletes to compete at the high school and collegiate level. Their role as mentor is key to their success as they strive to reach their full potential. Check out the full list of Clubs * Extracurriculars and Athletic Programs available on the button to the right.
Each day, students meet with their “House.” Each House is made up of a cross-section of students from each grade level, which allows for the opportunity to mentor one another in an environment that breaks down barriers. The students in our Houses pray, celebrate Mass, serve the community, and even engage in some friendly competition together. These opportunities help to strengthen the bonds within each group. If you’re an underclassman, you automatically have friends/mentors from students in the upper grades to guide you through your studies, struggles, and successes. The Houses enjoy friendly competition with each other for achievements in service, leadership, and academics. Always available to students – for daily morning prayer service before school starts or quiet prayer throughout the day – is our beautiful chapel. The McGivney motto – Serving the Culture of Life – is practiced within every discipline of study and activity at McGivney. Students can look forward to serving their parish, community, country, and world with the knowledge and spiritual strength that sets them apart as a McGivney student. It is our hope that every student at the McGivney will find their niche and soar like a Griffin to reach their full potential, all while living the faith and striving toward sainthood!
