We are more than just a college preparatory school. Our programs include Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and Dual Credit courses through St. Louis University’s 1818 program, offering students rigorous academic challenges and college credit opportunities. In addition to the courses offered at McGivney, students may broaden the options by taking courses through Catholic Virtual Online.

Advanced Placement (AP) Course

AP courses meet the requirements of the College Board Advanced Placement curriculum. These courses are designed to prepare students to take the advanced placement test for that course, a recommended test given in May with the cost billed to the student. Depending on the student's score and the criteria of the specific university, students may earn college credit. All AP courses receive a 0.02 add-on to the GPA per Honors Courses per semester.

At Father McGivney Catholic High School, we strive to provide our students with diverse academic opportunities that support their interests and future goals. To expand our elective course offerings, we partner with Catholic Virtual, an online learning platform that provides high-quality, faith-based courses in a variety of subjects beyond our traditional curriculum.

Students who wish to take electives that are not offered at McGivney can enroll in Catholic Virtual School classes to explore specialized subjects, enhance their learning experience, and prepare for future academic or career paths. These courses are available at an additional cost to parents, and students will receive guidance from our school counselors to ensure their selections align with their educational goals.

Founder’s Educere Credit Recovery Program

At Father McGivney Catholic High School, we are committed to supporting students in their academic success. For those who need to recover credits for graduation requirements, we offer access to Founder’s Educere, an online program designed to provide flexible and effective credit recovery options.

Founder’s Educere allows students to complete credit recovery coursework in a structured, self-paced format while ensuring they meet the necessary academic standards. This program is available at an additional cost to parents, and students will work closely with their school counselor to select the appropriate courses and stay on track for completion.

USE OF TECHNOLOGY

Father McGivney Catholic High School is a 1:1 Chromebook school. E-textbooks are designed to be a more interactive option to the standard textbook, providing a greater resource for the students to learn, offering different learning styles right at the student’s fingertips. The only physical book our students carry is their Bible. As an enhancement to e-books, Father McGivney teachers use Moodle in their classrooms for instruction, assignments, quizzes and tests.
