Michelle Fitzgerald

Michelle Fitzgerald graduated from St. Louis University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, minoring in French language and literature.  Following graduation, Mrs. Fitzgerald worked as a research chemist for L.C. Metals, eventually managing the precious metal recovery process pilot plant and scrap sampling operations. After several years, Michelle accepted a position as Environmental Manager for a secondary copper smelter.  In 1994, Michelle went to work for Petrolite Corporation as a Corporate Environmental Specialist.  When the company merged and moved to Houston in 1997, Mrs. Fitzgerald began working for Jefferson-Smurfit as a Corporate Environmental Engineer.  In 1999, she made the move to full-time mother when her son was born, and has been blessed and lucky to have been able to stay home using her Chemistry degree to make great meals, her geometry and engineering skills to sew Halloween costumes and prom dresses, and her enthusiasm for math and chemistry to sit at the kitchen table helping her own kids.  Mrs. Fitzgerald and her husband, Peter, are parents to Joseph, Maria, and Jane.

For the last few years Mrs. Fitzgerald has filled in as a long-term substitute at FMCHS many times and learned just how much she enjoys seeing the light bulb go on in someone’s head when she’s explained something in a way they understand.  She’s happy and excited to bring all her experience, life skills and dedication to Fr. McGivney Catholic High School to help students in the same way she was helped and guided by her teachers in high school.
