Joe Shannon
Joe Shannon grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois, and graduated from Edwardsville High School in 2015. During high school, he competed in Cross Country and Track and was actively involved in Model U.N.
Mr. Shannon went on to attend McKendree University, where he earned a degree in Social Science with an emphasis in History and a minor in Psychology. While at McKendree, he competed for the Bearcats in Cross Country and Track and became a Knight of Columbus, remaining an active 3rd Degree member to this day.
In the fall of 2019, ne completed his student teaching under Megan Kovarik and also volunteered as an assistant coach for the Father McGivney Cross Country team under Jim Helton. He concluded his collegiate athletic career as a graduate student during the 2021 track season and worked in student support services at O’Fallon High School.
Joe then spent four years as a Social Studies teacher and Head Coach for both the Cross Country and Boys Track teams at Highland High School, helping lead his teams to two conference championships and a sectional title in Cross Country.
Mr. Shannon is ecstatic to return to Father McGivney to teach in a faith-centered environment and contribute to the continued success of the Cross Country and Track programs.
