Debra Garland
Debra Garland is honored to be a member of the Father McGivney Catholic High School staff. Growing up in Madison, Mrs. Garland developed a passion for the arts. An an oboist and freshman in high school, Mrs. Garland began performing in the Alton Civic Orchestra and SIUE Orchestra, and continued throughout high school and college. Continuing her performance path she transferred to Granite City High School and graduated early.
While attending SIUE, Mrs. Garland also performed in the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra. Transferring to University of Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. After teaching in Madison and Granite City, Mrs. Garland earned a Master in Administration from SIUE.
Mrs. Garland went on to be a principal in Collinsville, assistant principal at Edwardsville High School, and a principal in Granite City. Along the way, Mrs. Garland also published children's books. Following a passion for the arts, Mrs. Garland is most proud of her daughter Julia, graduate of Drury University, actor, comedian, and martial artist.
