Father McGivney Catholic High School (FMCHS) will host an Open House for the new McGivney Commons on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to explore this new building on campus, which will be fully utilized by students when they return from Christmas Break on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
The 9,500-square-foot Commons expansion will provide an indoor gathering space to support the school’s growing student body and enhance every aspect of student life. The main space will be large enough to accommodate students for daily lunches, seat up to 500 people for weekly all-school Mass, serve as a venue for the performing arts, and enable the school to host large events and meetings on-site. In addition, new furniture and table games—including air hockey, ping pong, and foosball—will help create a welcoming and engaging environment for students before and after school.
Pfund Construction officially broke ground on the new building in May. Construction has moved along at a quick and steady pace, with the project being completed well ahead of schedule. “We’re incredibly excited to see this project nearing completion and truly grateful for the outstanding partnership with Pfund Construction and their team,” said Joseph Lombardi, principal of FMCHS. “Their leadership and craftsmanship have helped make this dream a reality for our school community.”
The Commons is part of a three-phase expansion of the campus that began in fall 2022. Phase One included construction of a much-needed parking lot at the back of the school. Phase Two, completed the following summer, added three additional classrooms to accommodate the growing student body. The long-awaited construction of the Commons serves as the final piece of the “Expanding for Our Future” capital campaign.
“The funds necessary to build the new Commons were secured entirely through private donations,” explained Father Jeff Goeckner, FMCHS president. “It’s been a blessing to have the support of our community in order to finish the Commons and design a space that will fulfill the needs of our student body for years to come.”
